Clay Shooting For The Intermediate PEGDVD1207 So, Liam Dale has put into practice the things he learnt in our first programme and is now hitting a respectable percentage of the targets he shoots at. He now understands the importance of safety and a lot of the more technical aspects of the sport. It's time to return to the Shalden Shooting School in Devon and to get top coach Rod Brammer to take him onto the next level. Rod will be explaining to Liam how to master some of the more tricky targets; one of which proves to be a real tester for our improving shot. Whilst Liam regroups from a difficult target, we catch sight of his wheelchair-bound friend Andy Beadsley, expertly performing on the driven pheasant stand. To introduce his pupil to a little competitive pressure, Rod suggests that Liam should shoot a 'head to head' with Jacky Coote on the driven grouse stand. Boys against girls... just shows this sport can be enjoyed by everyone. (For those of you who've participated in sporting shooting for a while, you will no doubt recognise the voice of that great character Chris Craddock who adds his expert comment to their performances but who has sadly passed away since this programme was filmed). In preparation for the real thing, we end the programme with Liam putting down his over and under, picking up a side by side and shooting at simulated coveys of driven partridge. For good measure, there's even a demonstration from Rod on how to clean your gun properly when you've finished shooting. Fishing For Beginners Coarse Fishing PEGDVD1202 Whether it be pole fishing, or float fishing with rod and line that's your particular bag... they're both featured here and who better to demonstrate the different techniques, than three of the best anglers in the country. Four times World Coarse Fishing Champion, Bob Nudd MBE... England International and fishing columnist, Will Raison and finally our old mate and big fish expert; Des Taylor. Our programme starts with Bob Nudd and a pole fishing session for big fish at Pisces Fishery on the Cambridge/Norfolk border. Fishing For Beginners Fly Fishing PEGDVD1201 What better way to get to grips with the basics of fly fishing and to broaden your approach, than to learn from a programme which features former England International team member, coach and manager Simon Gawesworth and the one time European Fly Fishing Champion Iain Barr. Let's start our programme by joining Simon at Blakewell Fisheries in Devon where he'll be showing us a variety of fly fishing equipment and how best to assemble it. Simon will then move on to expertly demonstrate presentation and how to catch rainbow trout on nymphs and ultimately the dry fly. There'll even be a fleeting glimpse of a nice brown trout which embarrassingly for Simon evades final capture! We'll then go to Lenches Lake in Evesham where the inimitable Iain Barr will show us the type of tactics that made him European Champion. Fishing With The Experts For Trout PEGDVD1190 The art of fly fishing is one genre of angling that really can be considered an artform. When fly fishing we are attempting to fool one of nature's wilier fish... the trout... into believing that a presented imitation is a food source, familiar to them in their own environment. A fly is created to imitate natural insects or grubs using various materials; feather, fur, or similar and within its construction is concealed a hook. This tiny artificial is floated or sunk to a required depth and in the right hands becomes a lethal weapon in the pursuit of trout. The lure is another story; tied using the same method as an imitative pattern but incorporating bright flashy materials. Not generally produced to represent a food item, these are designed more to appeal to the aggressive side of the trout's nature. In this programme we'll see Simon using both methods but first we get stuck in at the deep end of fly fishing with the shallower, fast flowing water of the River Torridge in Devon. Here Simon wades in the pursuit of the natural brown trout and then in complete contrast we take to a boat on Chew Valley to show what is available in the greater depths of a reservoir or lake. Without doubt one of the UK's best fly fishing instructors; Simon Gawesworth has filled roles as both an England International and the team manager and coach. Fishing With The Experts For Pike PEGDVD1188 For many years, fishing for pike was considered only as a seasonal option. Not now! When carp and coarse fishermen are waiting anxiously for the arrival of spring, the intrepid angler in need of winter action has a serious predator to consider. In this programme we're going to join Mick Brown, considered one of the best pike anglers in the UK. Mick explains the tackle he'll be using and shows us some of his massive array of artificial lures.
